Blaine, Washington
Bulk sedum cuttings were planted on
this green roof located on Interstate 5 in Blaine,
Washington. This U.S. Border Station now has a green roof that is
visible from vehicles crossing into Canada. In little more than

Bulk cuttings were shipped in boxes, in peak condition and ready
to plant. The boxes were staged on this 20,000 square foot roof in
a way that made it easy to distribute the cuttings evenly.
It took three workers approximately four hours to spread 2,000
pounds of sedum cuttings over the 4" of growth media. Immediately
the roof started looking green.
Plant varieties used: Sedum album 'Coral Carpet', Sedum
floriferum 'Weihenstephaner Gold', Sedum kamtschaticum
'Variegatum', Sedum middendorffianum diffusum, Sedum sexangulare,

spurium 'Red Carpet', Sedum reflexum 'Blue Spruce', Sedum rupestre

A moderate rate of 10 pounds per 100 square feet will fill in
quickly once the roots are established into the media.
